Lisa Michael, OTD, OTR/L, CHT, graduated from Colorado State University with a B.S. in Occupational Therapy in 1988. Lisa explored many aspects of Occupational Therapy for the first few years of her career. About 25 years ago, she realized she wanted to specialize in hand therapy, and still loves it!
Lisa passed the national hand therapy certification exam in 1996 to become a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT). She helps to rehabilitate people who experience orthopedic related injuries to their hands, wrists, and elbows. She is also an adjunct faculty at Sacred Heart University part-time. She recently returned to school to attain her Clinical Doctorate in Occupational Therapy (OTD).
Lisa is very active in the hand therapy community and is a member of AAHS, ASHT, AOTA, and CONNOTA. She has lectured both nationally and internationally on various hand therapy topics and has volunteered in 5 missions with the Guatemala Healing Hands Foundation to help treat Guatemalan children with hand or arm injuries. She also participates in a professional surgeon/ therapist conferences and assists with community outreach and teaching local therapists various hand therapy techniques while there. In her spare time, Lisa loves to hike and run with her dog, bike, kayak, and travel.
Chelsea Taylor, MOT, OTR/L, CHT is a graduate of Quinnipiac University with the Master of Science in Occupational Therapy and a Minor in Psychology. After interning in a hand therapy clinic as a graduate student, she developed an interest in upper extremity rehabilitation. Chelsea has presented her research on returning to work post-stroke at the American Occupational Therapy Association’s annual conference as well as the annual conference for the Connecticut Occupational Therapy Association in 2016. She has since earned her certification as a hand therapist after 3 years of work with Coastal Orthopedics, now known as, MOTION PT Group in Norwalk, CT. When she is not at work, Chelsea enjoys spending time with family, including her husband and two dogs.
